Shadow tracing @ CPSGS ANN

Written by cpsglobalblog

Early years classrooms often buzz with innovative activities that not only educate but also inspire young minds. One such delightful and engaging activity that recently took place at our EY3 classroom was the Shadow Tracing activity.

The magic began as the children eagerly traced the outlines of these shadows using colorful markers and crayons. The enthusiasm in the air was palpable as tiny hands carefully followed the contours, and giggles accompanying every successful tracing. This seemingly playful activity was, in fact, a gateway to multiple learning opportunities.

The children keenly observed the different shapes formed by the shadows cast by various objects. This allowed them to explore the concept of shapes and sizes tangibly. Tracing the intricate outlines of the shadows required precision and control. This activity helped improve their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. As they traced the shadows, the children’s imaginations ran wild. They transformed simple outlines into vibrant drawings by adding details and colors, unleashing their creativity. Through this activity, the children gained a basic understanding of how shadows are formed and how they change in size and shape with the movement of light sources.

In the world of early education, it’s often the simplest activities that leave the most profound impact on a child’s developing mind. Shadow Tracing was undoubtedly a magical experience that left an indelible mark on the young learners’ hearts and minds.
