“For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone”.

The shell cracks, its inside comes out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.”

Germinating seeds in a cup is a fun way for kids to view how seeds transform into plants. Our CAIE 4 learners brought different seeds for this activity. The seeds were placed in two different cups with some cotton spread out. The cups were labeled as A and B. One set of cups was placed under the light while the other cups were placed under the dark conditions to find out the conditions required for seed germination.

From this activity, learners will be able to explore by themselves that light is not an important factor for germination.

Sprouting leads to greater bioavailability of nutrients and better absorption resulting in better nutrition. This is the biggest precedence of germination.
