Seeds Club – Law Society – Session 3 @ CPSGS, ANN

Intelligence, creativity and confidence prevailed on the 20th of December, when the third session of the Law Society wing conducted a mock trial. The entire setup resembled a courtroom, with some members acting as the prosecution, defense and jury while Club Secretary Harini assumed the role of the judge. A mind -boggling case of “whodunit”, along with the fictional story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears made sure students from each grade were engaged and entertained. Students learnt how to formulate arguments, while also developing analytical skills to deal with the opposition’s line of reasoning. Evidence was admitted along with some members taking on the role of witnesses, which led to some cackling cross questioning. The judge’s gavel of “order” taught students that there is a certain way to conduct oneself and present ideas in the courtroom, making it all seem very realistic. In the end, many students experienced their first mock trial and enjoyed it, and all learnt something new from it. The key takeaway was that students learnt how to participate in rehearsed trials while also gaining knowledge of the legal system.
