What do Envelopes, pizza boxes, paper bags, and fancy napkins have in common? Well, you might have guessed it — origami.
Origami is the ancient art of paper folding. Children love origami as evidenced by how they are enamored with their first paper airplane, paper hat, or paper boat. Practicing origami is a great form of brain training for children. In the Early Years, paper folding is a unique and valuable addition to the curriculum. It is not only fun to do, but it is also a valuable method for developing vital skills during their school years. It improves motor skills, enhances memory, builds concentration, and develops creativity.
In EY 3, our children made colourful tulip flowers through paper folding as a part of their learning about different parts of plants. The room was filled with awe and excitement.
