CPS Global School Thirumazhisai Empowers Students with Insightful Erudite Talk on Conflict Resolution

In an endeavor to foster holistic development, CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai organized an enlightening Erudite Talk for the students of IGCSE and IBDP programs. The focal point of the discussion was conflict resolution, a quintessential life skill in today’s dynamic world. Renowned advocate in India and Barrister –at-law from Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn UK Ms. Mythili Shaan Katari Libby chose to undertake independent legal practice, focusing on Family law, Sexual harassment matters, Child protection matters, workplace and school training, litigation, and international collaborations. At the talk, Ms. Mythili steered the students through the delicate topic of resolving conflicts and introduced the approach, agree to disagree.

Ms. Mythili introduced the core concept of conflict resolution and delved into the realm of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR). Encompassing five distinct types of ADR, the discussion spanned negotiation, mediation, conciliation, arbitration, and legal action. The speaker meticulously outlined the systematic steps to navigate and untangle conflict scenarios. The session transformed into an interactive symposium where a multitude of real-life scenarios ranging from bullying and school elections to negligence and harassment were discussed. This immersive approach enabled students to comprehend the pragmatic application of conflict resolution techniques.

The discourse extended to the global stage, where students dissected the recent Australian news about the tragic demise of three of a family caused by poisonous cap mushrooms. Ms. Mythili briefed about the birth of tort law and explained it thus-A tort is a civil wrong that causes a claimant to suffer loss or harm, resulting in legal liability for the person who commits the tortious act. In addition, the speaker focused on the significance of the “agree to disagree” concept as a valuable tool in conflict resolution. This approach encourages individuals to acknowledge and respect differing viewpoints without the need for consensus, fostering understanding, empathy, and effective communication. The riveting talk concluded with an enriching insight for the students. Armed with a newfound appreciation for conflict resolution, they departed with a broader perspective and enhanced problem-solving skills. The Erudite talk not only sowed the seeds of legal awareness but also nurtured the art of effective communication and empathy – skills that will undoubtedly stand the students in good stead as they navigate the multifaceted landscape of life.
