The IAYP adventure trip proved to be an enriching and unforgettable experience for our students, blending hands-on learning with the thrill of exploration. Each day was packed with opportunities to develop essential survival skills and push personal limits.
The journey began with first aid training, where students mastered techniques to treat injuries ranging from simple sprains to deep wounds. They then delved into navigation, applying mathematical concepts to real-world situations using compasses and maps. A practice walk put their newfound skills to the test, reinforcing their understanding of direction and terrain reading.
Later, they took on the challenge of fire-making in the wilderness—a true test of patience and perseverance. Striking flints against stones, they worked tirelessly for 30 minutes before finally sparking a flame, an achievement met with cheers of triumph. As evening descended, they set up their tents under the open sky and prepared meals on rudimentary gas stoves, embracing self-sufficiency and teamwork.
The most demanding challenge awaited them—a grueling 15 km trek through the dense forests of Coorg. Led by Indiahike staff and CPS faculty, the students navigated rocky terrain and steep inclines. Despite the physical strain, their determination and teamwork propelled them forward. Reaching the summit was a moment of pure exhilaration, as they stood in awe of the breathtaking panoramic views stretching across rolling hills and valleys.
The descent was just as challenging, testing their endurance and resilience. Yet, as they finally arrived back at camp—exhausted but fulfilled—a profound sense of accomplishment washed over them. The adventure had not only pushed their limits but had also left them with lasting memories, strengthened bonds, and a newfound confidence in their abilities.
