Distillation, a simple yet powerful separation technique, captivated our grade 6 students during a recent demonstration. The process began with a mixture of water and ink. As the mixture was heated, water turned into vapor, leaving the ink behind. The vapor travelled through a condenser, cooling into liquid water in a separate container. This hands-on demonstration highlighted how distillation separates substances based on boiling points. Students were amazed to see pure water collected, showcasing science in action. The experiment not only deepened their understanding of mixtures and solutions but also sparked curiosity about practical applications like water purification. Science is fun!
