From E-ballots to leadership, July 7th was a momentous day at CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai, with the student council elections for the year 2023-24. The electoral board held contests for various posts, and the nominations were filed by the student contestants with great zeal and fervour. Creative and dynamic campaigning was on the cards for the student nominees, aiming to connect with their peers and actively engage with their house members.
Every contestant was mindful of their role and transparent about how they would be a voice for student opinions, believing in the principles of egalitarianism. The panelists, comprising the Head of School (HOS), Deputy HOS, and other steering committee members, engaged in a tête-à-tête with the student council nominees for the positions of Head Boy, Junior Head Boy, Head Girl, Junior Head Girl, Sports & Wellness Captain, and Discipline Monitor. They assessed how instrumental the nominees would be in creating organic relationships and fulfilling the responsibilities associated with their respective positions. The interviews determined the election of candidates for these roles, while other posts were decided through a casting of votes.
The Class Representatives for each term were also elected through a deliberate procedure involving panel members and class advisors. The election process commenced in the morning in a composed manner, allowing the enthusiastic students from CAIE1 to IBDP Year 2 to exercise their right to vote through e-ballots. The approach was steady, democratic, and inclusive.
The seasoned contestants were on tenterhooks, feeling a mix of sweat, apprehension, and hope as they awaited the highly anticipated results. As the day concluded, the moment of the results declaration arrived, unveiling the future leaders of the Student Council for Academic Year 2023-24. The Investiture ceremony will soon take place to officially appoint them to their respective positions, marking the beginning of their leadership journey.
