It can be difficult to differentiate SCIENCE from MAGIC at times, and this simple demonstration is an
excellent example of that. In this experiment, an almost transparent liquid will abruptly turn yellow
to red in a flash. It takes some planning and maybe a trip to the pharmacy for materials, but we
believe it is worthwhile.
Our EY 2 children were taken to the chemistry lab to witness this magic science by exploring the
process of color transformation from yellow to reddish-brown with turmeric, detergent powder, and
lemon juice. What more a four year old needs to watch the color change!
