The excitement was palpable as students and parents gathered for the highly anticipated subject orientations at CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai. These informative sessions aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subjects offered at crucial stages of education, namely IGCSE and IBDP. Both events were led by dedicated coordinators and faculty members who guided parents and students through the curriculum demands, subject choices, and responsibilities associated with these programs.

The IGCSE subject orientation held on the 14th of June, 2023 began with a warm welcome from the Head of School, Ms. Jayu Ganesh, who set the stage for the academic session of 2023-24. The IGCSE coordinator, Mr. Sathyamoorthy B, took the parents through the various subjects offered at the school and provided insights into the school’s practices and procedures. Facilitators then took centre stage, shedding light on the key components of each subject.

Mathematics emerged as the bedrock of logical thinking, while English promised to enhance language and literature skills. ICT showcased the exciting realm of technology, while Biology, Chemistry, and Physics unveiled the wonders of the natural world. Art and Design captured the essence of creativity, encouraging students to express themselves artistically, and Global Perspectives urged critical thinking about real-world issues. Environmental Management highlighted the significance of sustainability. Furthermore, the school offered French, Tamil, Hindi, and Spanish as second languages, allowing students to explore linguistic intricacies and cultural nuances.

The IGCSE orientation left parents engrossed throughout the session, finding it highly informative. They gained valuable insights into the curriculum, enabling them to support their children’s academic journeys effectively. The event successfully set the stage for a fruitful educational experience, guiding students towards a pathway to success.

Following the IGCSE orientation, the school organized an induction session for the IBDP cohort of 2023-2025 on the 17th of June, 2023. The Head of School commenced the event, emphasizing the importance of the IBDP program and the school’s commitment to providing a high-quality education. Ms. Aditi Mukherjee and Academic Coordinator, then provided a comprehensive overview of the curriculum demands and requirements of the IBDP.

The IBDP curriculum offers a wide range of subject choices across six different groups: Studies in Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and the Arts. Faculty members elaborated on all the subject options available for students in each group, empowering students and parents to make informed decisions about their subject choices.

The orientation event also highlighted the significance of university preparation. Attendees were informed about the need to stay updated with university requirements and advised to work diligently to achieve the best grades. This comprehensive understanding enables students to plan ahead and tailor their educational journey to align with their future aspirations.

Throughout the session, students had the opportunity to clarify any doubts and seek guidance on navigating the demands of the IBDP. The event concluded with the submission of subject choice forms, duly signed by the students and their parents.

Overall, the IGCSE and IBDP orientations at CPS Global School provided valuable insights and guidance to both parents and students. By offering a comprehensive understanding of the curriculum demands, subject choices, and responsibilities, the school has laid a strong foundation for a successful academic journey. As students embark on these transformative educational paths, they do so with confidence, armed with knowledge, and supported by a dedicated educational community.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” With the groundwork laid during these orientations, students are now poised to shape a brighter future and make a positive impact on the world.
