The echoes of patriotism reverberated across the corridors as the multi-purpose auditorium at CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai got decked up to commemorate the 77th Independence Day through a special assembly on August 14th 2023. The school holds a sizeable number of students from South Korea. The Independence Day of India coincides with the National Liberation Day of Korea and the special assembly painted a tapestry of moments that celebrated the shared spirit of independence for both these nations.

The assembly commenced with its customary segments – school prayer, an enlightening thought of the day, and engaging headlines that created the backdrop for a unique and meaningful commemoration. The assembly then transformed into a canvas of cultural richness with every brushstroke adding vibrant hues to the intertwined chronicles of India and Sout Korea.

Representing IBDP Year 1, Harish Manuvel of Indian origin and Kim Ji Hyeok of Korean origin eloquently articulated the historical significance of their respective nations’ independence days. Their heartfelt expressions bridged geographical distances, creating an intimate connection between the struggles and triumphs that have shaped the destinies of India and South Korea.

Moving on, the audience witnessed the scintillating moves of the dancers from CAIE 1 to CAIE 4 whose movements weaved stories of valour and liberation. Their synchronized performance deftly conveyed the essence of independence, ably mounted the patriotic fervour on the hearts of the audience.

It was time for a harmonious musical interlude: the students of IGCSE Year 1 crooned a melodic medley with notes carrying the weight of history, reminding all present of the unifying power of music.

The spotlight then shifted to the young talents of CAIE 7 and 8, who presented a captivating theatrical play. Through their enactment, the audience got transported to pivotal moments in history, with the impact resulting in introspection and nurturing connection.

In the Early Learning Programme (ELP) assembly, the students contributed their spirited performances to enhance the patriotic fervour. Through vibrant dances and creative videos, they ignited the flame of patriotism in young hearts. Moreover, the ELP classes added a unique touch to the celebration with their class activities, where creativity knew no bounds.

In ELP 1, the students crafted tricolour ice cream stick arrangements, showcasing their patriotism through artistic pursuits. ELP 2 students, with colourful sponges and absolute enthusiasm, embarked on a journey to recreate the Indian flag, a symbol of unity and freedom. The ELP 3 students displayed their creativity by fashioning a tricoloured Indian map using rock salt, a tangible representation of the diverse yet united fabric of our nation.

As the assembly drew to a poignant conclusion, the echoes of freedom lingered in the air. The colours, words, and performances merged into a harmonious celebration, serving as a poignant reminder that the spirit of independence knows no boundaries.

This assembly was not merely an event; it functioned as a bridge, uniting hearts across vast distances and celebrating the threads that intricately weave us into the fabric of history.
