Students developed a clear understanding of how the Moon appears to change its shape over time. They learned that the Moon does not actually change shape, but appears different due to the way sunlight falls on it.
Students were able to identify and name all eight phases of the Moon and understood the correct sequence in which these phases occur. They also recognized patterns, noticing how the Moon gradually changes from a New Moon to a Full Moon and then slowly reduces again.
The activity encouraged observation, sequencing skills, and scientific thinking. By the end, students were more confident in explaining the Moon’s phases in their own words and could easily relate them to what they observe in the night sky.
