“When the music and dance create with accord…their magic captivates                                                       both the heart and the mind”.

                                                                         – Jean Georges Noverre

Dance and music have been an integral part of human life particularly for
children in their growing and studying phase. The two art forms, music and
dance, together seem to create an emotional quotient, always complementing
each other. The craft of music and dance has been pivotal in the areas of
entertainment, healing, bringing people together and most importantly they
stimulate the creativity of the brain and brings with it a sea of imagination.  The
meaning of music or dance is not dependent on language and has a universal
appeal.
It is with in this spirit that CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai hosted the
cultural extravaganza "Taal and Tarangani”, 4 th edition, on 27th February,2023.
The event also coincided with the culmination of ECA Dance and Music
classes, imparted as part of the school curriculum. ECA activities allow learners
to explore different areas of interest, boost self-confidence, build leadership
competency and hone their social skills while engaging in collaborative team
work. The entire set of events were held over a span of three days according to
the different grade levels and the school wore a festive look for an entire week.
“Taal and Tarangini” started on Monday with CAIE 8 to IG2, and it went on
with CAIE 5 – CAIE 7 and concluded on Friday with CAIE 1-4. The corridors
of the school were echoing with the excited students and faculty preparing for
the cultural fest. Musical performances were divided into two sections
Instrumental and vocal. Students played an array of instruments from Violin,
drums, flute to piano. There were also the dance performances ranging from
classical, semi classical to hip hop. The students also shared their insight
regarding the learning process they underwent in their ECA classes and were
very vocal with their ideas and opinions. Mary from IGCSE year 1 was quite
vociferous about the ECA dance classes being inspirational and motivating
despite her being not that interested in the art form initially when she joined.
Aadwika from CAIE5 mentioned how the music classes have kept her aligned
with her passion for singing and helped her improve her pitch and tenor.
Extracurricular activities in school provide opportunities for kids that can’t be
replicated anywhere else and CPS believes in the fundamentals that students
learn best in a dynamic, challenging, independent environment based on
freedom of expression which values diversity, creativity and artistic quality.
