“Rust forms where metal meets the breath of nature.”
Our CIE 3 students investigated the factors affecting rust using wire wool. They set up three beakers: one with water and air, one with only water (sealed to prevent air), and one with no water or air. Over time, they observed that rust formed only in the beaker with both water and air. This hands-on experiment illustrated the crucial role of both water and air in the rusting process.
