Reviewing Reviews: a group presentation activity
An English class activity ‘Reviewing Reviews’ was recently conducted for AS level students to understand the key genre conventions of reviews. During this activity, the students read and analyzed reviews of books, movies, products, music concert and bakery. The activity was conducted in groups, and each group was assigned a particular type of review. The students earnestly discussed the key points and identified the major stylistic devices based on the form, structure and language, and presented their learning to the class. This activity helped the students to understand the key features of different reviews, and gave them an opportunity to hone their presentation and team building skills.
