My Weighing Scale @ Cps Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Our EY 3 children were into comparing weight this week. The topic was introduced by comparing weights by holding different objects in our hands and looking at pictures of other objects. The children could tell you a car weighs more than a soccer ball. For the next step, we explored our old balance scale. We initially began to discuss the concept of why does one side of the balance go down when just one eraser was placed in it. They understood that when both sides of the scale are empty, it is balanced.

The finale was making their balance scale with materials easily available, a cloth hanger, paper cups, and a few strings. Once the balance scale was done, children paired up to compare the weight of different objects. Before placing the objects in the cups, the children predicted the weight of the objects. Then they experimented by putting the objects in the cups and learned to compare weight.
