Have you noticed how kids have all the confidence in the world? Kids are fearless and they have no inhibitions. They have soaring high confidence. It’s no surprise that kids believe they are capable of being any one of their favorite superheroes. Mirror play is a fun and fascinating way to engage toddlers as it helps them nurture their self-awareness development. It helps them to develop their language skills and build their confidence.
An activity was conducted in EY 3. The children were shown a surprise box. Inside the box, a mirror was pasted. They were told that inside the box there was a photograph of the most responsible, independent, smartest, and most beautiful child in the class whom their teacher loved a lot. They were asked to guess who it was. Some told their names and some told their friend’s name. Then we called one by one to peep into the box but with one condition they would keep it a secret until everyone had the chance.
When the children saw their faces in the mirror, they were so excited. The air was filled with giggles and awes trying to keep up the secret. This activity may be simple but it boosted the confidence of every child in the class. It wasn’t just about seeing their reflection; it was about recognizing the power and beauty within themselves. They realized they were all the best children in the class and were all on par. And last but not least their teachers loved them a lot.
