I can eat a whole plant @ CPS GS, ANN

Written by cpsglobalblog

All plants have the same basic parts—roots, stems, leaves, flowers, seeds, and fruit. Did you know the different parts of many plants are edible?

Our EY2 have been learning that we eat plants and that some of the foods we eat come from the different parts of the plant. They are now aware that like animals we also eat many kinds of leaves as vegetables like spinach, mint, and coriander. They know that roots of some plants like carrot, beetroot, and radish can be eaten. Are flowers just for smelling and seeing? no! We also eat flowers as vegetables like cauliflower and broccoli. Can seeds be eaten? They came to know that our main food like wheat, rice, and pulses consists of plant seeds. To Fortify their learning, today in EY2 we created a visual representation of parts of plants. Children used their senses like touch, smell, and sight to explore the plants and their edible parts. This delightful activity allowed the children to understand that plants form the main source of food ad we should take care of them.
