Participating in a Model United Nations (MUN) is a transformative experience for students, fostering critical thinking, diplomacy, and global awareness. Students of CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai, represented our school in the fifth chapter of Sir Mutha MUN in various committees, such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), United Nations Security Council (UNSC), and International Press (IP). The impact of their participation was truly remarkable.
DaHee Kim of IGYR2 (South Korea) and Nishesh Vijai of CAIE8 (Japan) represented our school in the UNEP committee and engaged in heated debates on climate change and sustainable development. Nishesh Vijai was awarded the Best Delegate for UNEP, a testament to his outstanding performance!
Harpita Pandian (Australia), Harpith Pandian (France) of IBYR2, and Nakshatara SP (India) of IGYR2 participated in the UNCSD committee. Their discussions centered around achieving sustainable development goals. Collaborating with delegates from different backgrounds, they honed their negotiation skills and advocated for holistic approaches to attain the SDGs. Harpith Pandian and Harpita Pandian received an Honorary Mention for their exemplary contribution.
The UNHRC committee provided a platform for Thaniya of IGYR2 to champion human rights causes among Ethiopian refugees in Malawi. Thaniya’s awesome work earned her a Special Mention!
Aditya Prabu of IGYR2, representing Norway, demonstrated exceptional diplomacy and strategic acumen during the session in the UNSC.
Lastly, in the International Press, Sahana of IBYR2 represented Deutsche Welle in G20 discussions. Her articles and interviews beautifully documented the event, ensuring that the experiences of delegates and their accomplishments were shared with the MUN community. Sahana made us proud by receiving an Honorary Mention for her sizzling performance as a Journalist!
The icing on the cake was our IBYR2 2022-23 student, Rohith R. Raman, receiving an Honorary Mention for UNHRC in his 50th MUN!!!
Participating in the SMMUN empowered our students with newfound confidence, enhancing their public speaking, research, and negotiation skills. CPS Global is on a mission to create such opportunities for our students, which will empower them to contribute positively to the world.
