Don’t Waste Food @ CPS GS, ANN

Written by cpsglobalblog

“100 million people are starving. 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted every year. We do not need to produce more. Instead, we need to act differently.”

Most kids are fussy eaters and they will refuse to eat almost all the food you offer them. Kids’ food preferences also keep changing every few weeks. You can’t exactly explain to your kids that the food they waste can have a big impact on the environment in a way that they can understand. So, how is it that you teach kids to stop wasting food?

We must show our children that food is not something we can take for granted, or a toy to play with and throw around. One of the best ways to ensure that your kids clean their plates is to show them the source of their food. In our EY segment, this is what we did. As a part of the Food waste awareness week, we made the children understand how much effort is being put into bringing a grain of rice or a fruit vegetable to our plate.

We also made them realize how we waste food when we go to restaurants and made them come up with solutions like ordering less food, packing the remaining food, and distributing it to the underprivileged.

Our EY 3 kids did not stop with this. They made posters depicting food wastage and went on rally with slogans like ‘Don’t waste food, ‘Love food, hate waste.

When we hand over the world to the future generation, it is better to teach our kids not to waste food before it becomes too late and they become too old to start new habits.
