A Splash of Science: Exploring Solubility

Written by cpsglobalblog

Have you ever wondered why some substances dissolve in water while others don’t? Our young scientists from Grade CIE2 recently embarked on a fascinating experiment to explore the concept of solubility. They investigated which substances are soluble in water and which are insoluble, all while having a blast!

Equipped with a variety of substances—sugar, salt, sand, and oil—our students conducted a series of experiments. They carefully observed what happened when each substance was added to a clear beaker of water. Some substances, like sugar and salt, dissolved completely, becoming part of the water, while others, like sand and oil, remained visible and separate.

Through this hands-on activity, the students gained a deeper understanding of solubility, learning the difference between soluble and insoluble substances. The experiment highlighted the importance of careful observation in scientific investigations.

Our students had a fantastic time exploring the world of solubility. This experiment not only taught them scientific concepts but also sparked their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. By conducting experiments and observing the results, they developed a stronger appreciation for the wonders of science.
