Written by cpsglobalblog

The students of Grade 5, CPS Global School, recently embarked on an enriching field trip to Arani, Thiruvallur – a town celebrated for its exquisite silk sarees. This experience provided young learners with a rare opportunity to witness the timeless artistry behind India’s treasured handlooms.

Upon arrival, the students were introduced to both the traditional hand-woven and the modern mechanical processes of weaving silk. Their eyes lit up as they observed skilled artisans meticulously transforming threads into resplendent fabrics. One of the highlights was watching the intricate technique of block printing. Guided patiently by the craftsmen, the students enthusiastically tried their hands at stamping designs, leaving them with a sense of pride in participating in a craft passed down through generations.

The visit offered more than just a lesson in weaving; it opened a window into culture,

tradition, and the dedication that defines this heritage art. The children were fascinated to learn how a single saree can take days to complete, each one emerging as a masterpiece.

Teachers and students alike could not resist purchasing a few of these elegant sarees, carrying home not only souvenirs but also cherished memories of a day steeped in culture, creativity, and appreciation.
