Voices in action – Where Ideas Take the Stage @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

“Debate is more than speaking – it’s thinking aloud, listening deeply, and learning together.”

At CPSGS ANN, students from grade 3 to 5 participated in an exciting Debating Competition centered on the thought-provoking topic “Can Technology Make people lazy?” The event encouraged young learners to explore real world issues, articulate their viewpoints, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

The competition introduced students to the fundamentals of structured debate, helping them understand how to form arguments, support their points with examples, and respond thoughtfully to opposing ideas.

Students formed teams where few highlighted how technology saves time and boosts learning, while others argued that excessive use may reduce physical activity, limit face to face interaction, and weaken problem solving skills. This experience helped them view technology not as simply “good” or ” bad”, but as a tool whose impact depends on how we choose to use it.

The competition emphasized that debating is more than speaking – it is a mindset that nurtures curiosity, active listening and critical thinking. The session concluded with insights, confident performances, and a shared appreciation for the thoughtful voices that filled the room.
