Sexual Reproductive parts of a flowering plant dissected for Study @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Pollination is a vital ecological process wherein transfer of the pollen grains from anthers takes place on the stigma through various mediums. The extended pollen tube carries the male gametic cells through the style and fuses with the egg cells in the ovules resulting in cell divisions as a zygote, grows as an embryo developing into a fruit (ovary) with seeds (ovules) that we consume. But, when humans disrupt pollination, plant species and the animals that are dependent on them disappear. The students dissected the flowering plants to study and understand the reproductive parts and process of gametic cell fusion using a microscope. They enjoyed hands-on activity on discovering the type and mechanism of reproduction and development seen in hibiscus, banana, watermelon, mustard and papaya.
