Rhymes, Rewrites & Revelations: A Poetry Challenge Like No Other! @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

On Tuesday, the air in our school hallways was filled not just with words—but with wonder. It was Poetry Challenge Day, and while few students stepped onto the stage or submitted their verses, they carried with them the voices of many. Each grade explored this event differently, while Grade 6 engaged in reciting poems, Grade 7 rewrote the poems with a personal twist & Grade 8 students decoded poems to breakdown the beauty of the art of writing.

Every stanza recited, every word rewritten, and all lines interpreted echoed with thought, expression, and bold creativity.

With poems like “The Road Not Taken” and “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” echoing from the stage, students recited with expression, poise, and clarity that would’ve made the great poets proud.

Dubbed Young Wordsmiths, they reimagined classic poems with personal twists, keeping the soul of the original while painting it with their own color. The creativity was inspiring—raw, real, and reflective. It wasn’t just rewriting—it was rediscovering.

Students donned their thinking caps, they dove deep into metaphors, allusions, and symbolism to uncover meaning between the lines. Their interpretations came alive through beautifully handwritten notes, diagrams, even mind maps and visual representations. It was analysis—but artistic and authentic.

Their courage and creativity lit up the room. The Poetry Challenge reminded us that whether it’s spoken, written, or interpreted—words have the power to connect, to express, and to transform.

Here’s to more rhymes, revelations, and rising voices.
