Phantoms in the Air: The Optical Illusion That Wows @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Learners of CIE 3 to 5 were enthralled by a captivating demonstration of the Pepper’s Ghost illusion — a timeless marvel of optical wizardry. This fascinating phenomenon conjures a ghostly, ethereal image by ingeniously reflecting a real object or visual onto a transparent surface.

The setup was meticulously crafted using a carton box, precisely cut at a 45-degree angle, into which an OHP sheet was delicately inserted. A rectangular aperture at the top of the box served as the platform for the image source. When placed in a dimly lit room, the illusion came alive, projecting breathtaking 3D holographic visuals that seemed to float magically in mid-air.

The magic lies in the light from the concealed object, which is subtly reflected off the transparent sheet, seamlessly merging with the viewer’s line of sight to create a spellbinding apparition. Revered in haunted attractions, world-class museums, grand stage concerts, and even cinematic productions, Pepper’s Ghost continues to enchant audiences by delivering truly immersive and unforgettable visual experiences.
