Pathways to Excellence: Navigating IGCSE and IBDP

Written by cpsglobalblog

The IGCSE/IBDP Orientation Programme for the 2025–2027 cohort at CPS Global School marked an important step for students and parents as they embarked on the Cambridge IGCSE/IBDP journey. During the session, students and parents were introduced to the Cambridge IGCSE programme – a globally recognized two-year qualification designed to develop critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. The subject choices were grouped under Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences, Mathematics, and Creative & Professional disciplines. Students were encouraged to aim for the prestigious Cambridge ICE qualification, which requires a minimum of seven subjects across five subject groups, including one English and one of the second languages. Teachers were introduced and shared their subject outlines and teaching approaches, reassuring students of their ongoing academic and emotional support. The weekly timetable structure was explained, highlighting a balance between academic rigor and holistic enrichment, while uniform guidelines and code of conduct expectations were clearly outlined. The session also included key information about the Cambridge IGCSE board exams scheduled for June 2027, covering subject registration and support systems such as mock exams and revision strategies.

At the senior level, the IBDP offers an internationally recognized qualification focusing on inquiry, global-mindedness, and independence. Students select subjects from six groups along with Core Components: Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service, developing critical thinkers and balanced individuals. The session emphasized the vital role of parental involvement in helping students align subject choices with interests, strengths, and future aspirations. It was a meaningful step toward shaping informed, confident learners.
