Introducing young learners to living and non-living things is both a foundational and thrilling part of early science education. For kindergartners, it opens up a world of discovery, encouraging them to observe their surroundings with fresh curiosity. We began with simple questions like: Does it move on its own? Does it grow? Does it need food or water? To bring the concept to life, we welcomed a bird and a fish into the classroom. The children’s excitement grew as they observed the animals breathe, move, and respond, clearly showing what makes something living. The lesson wrapped up with a fun sorting game, helping children confidently identify and classify living and non-living things. What seems simple to adults becomes a magical moment of discovery for young learners.
