Learning Through Celebration: Bastille Day in Our Classroom @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Our classrooms of CIE 1 & CIE 2 learners came alive with the spirit of France as we celebrated Bastille Day with a variety of engaging and educational activities.

We began by watching a video on the history of France, helping students understand the importance of the French Revolution and the origins of Bastille Day. The students then paired up for a fun crown-making activity, using the colours of the French flag. Each student placed the crown on their peer’s head while wishing them a joyful “Happy Bastille Day!” The excitement continued as students drew the iconic Eiffel Tower in their notebooks, adding their personal artistic touch to this symbol of France.

We also listened to La Marseillaise, the French national anthem, and took part in a quiz about famous French monuments, where students learned the names and significance of landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.

To conclude, we discussed how Bastille Day is celebrated in France—with grand parades and fireworks—and students eagerly shared facts they knew about the revolution. It was a day full of learning, creativity, and celebration!
