“If you talk to you a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” Nelson Mandela
CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai, celebrated International Mother Language Day on 21st February with a special assembly highlighting the significance of linguistic diversity and cultural heritage. The origin of this day dates back to 1952 in Bangladesh, when brave students gave their lives to protect their right to speak and learn in their mother tongue, Bangla. Their sacrifice led to the recognition of Bangla as an official language and later, in 1999, UNESCO declared this day as International Mother Language Day. Our students emphasized the importance of preserving mother languages. A special highlight of the event was a video featuring celebrities expressing their admiration for Thirukkural, showcasing its timeless wisdom. The celebration reinforced the value of linguistic identity and encouraged students to cherish their native languages while embracing global diversity. The event was a meaningful tribute to the beauty and richness of languages that shape our heritage and identity.
