IB Innovators at Work: Creative Demonstrations of Gas Laws @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Science leapt off the pages and into the lab as our IB1 students turned simple materials into brilliant demonstrations of gas laws. Using bottles, balloons, pumps, jars, and clever setups, they explored how gases expand, contract, and respond to pressure and temperature — transforming Charles’s Law and Boyle’s Law from theory into visible reality.

The excitement was palpable as balloons inflated, jars popped, and students leaned in to observe every change. These bright eyes and focused faces are signs of young minds engaged and inspired. From heating water baths to using pumps to change pressure, every experiment showcased creative thinking and teamwork at its best.

These budding scientists proved that true learning happens when curiosity drives experimentation. Their resourcefulness and enthusiasm showed that concepts can be understood through everyday objects — and a bit of imagination.

The best lab is a curious mind and a spark of innovation. Students used  simple kitchen jars, chopsticks, balloons, thermos flasks, beakers, and even toothpicks to create models. This not only showed scientific principles but also encouraged them to think like true problem-solvers — resourceful and innovative.

This hands-on experience didn’t just teach gas laws — it sparked deeper inquiry, collaboration, and a real love for scientific discovery. Here’s to our young innovators, who remind us every day that science is not just learned — it’s lived!
