“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas change the world”.
– Robin Williams
CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai celebrated the annual Humanities week in the
third week of August, 2022, wherein all students committed themselves to learning
about and appreciating aspects of human society and culture such as language and
philosophy through open discussion and fun activities.
The Inter-house Poster-creating Competition by IGCSE and IBDP students
demanded students to design posters depicting famous quotes, varied in theme and
philosophy. The diversity in the assortment of quotes, ranging from Robin Williams to
Arundhati Roy, was pleasantly received and quotes about the significance of justice
and the role of women in political struggles provoked students to offer their opinions
and interpretations of it. Students were able to unleash their creativity and utilize
their artistic talents to make posters that were not conventional. Ultimately, the
poster-making activity ended up as a task to not just promote open-mindedness and
constructive discussion, but to also celebrate one of the most crucial aspects of
humanity, teamwork.
Students from CAIE 6 to 8 participated in an extempore competition voicing their
thoughts on pressing issues of the day like Deforestation, Rural development in India
and Women Empowerment. The students made good of this opportunity and shared
their opinions as the future leaders of the world. The fact that young minds can come
up with such novel and noble ideas left the audience awestruck. CAIE 4 and 5
students engaged themselves in a exciting game of solving crossword puzzle of
different countries and their capitals. Students of CAIE 1 to 3 learned about the
states of India through another fun activity – Spot the State. The activity required the
students to correctly identify the states of India with the outlines given and fit them in
the map of India. The activity saw children engrossed in exercising their cognitive
and motor skills with dexterity. Thus, culminated the weeklong Humanities
celebrations.
