Deeksha Sashikumar, our AS Level student with a deep passion for psychology, has published her research paper titled “Parasocial Relationships in Adolescence: Emotional Attachment, Social Media Engagement, and Their Impact on Developmental Outcomes” in the International Journal of Science and Research.
Through a narrative research methodology, Deeksha investigated the different ways in which adolescents develop one-sided emotional bonds with celebrities and media influencers and how they impact the way one’s identity is developed and social interactions are established. She used the world-renowned band BTS, a few other K-pop stars, and their fan culture as a basis while drawing inspiration from current youth culture.
Deeksha is commended for her dedication, analytical depth, and initiative in undertaking scholarly research, and her achievement is regarded as an inspiration for students to pursue meaningful research beyond the classroom.
