“Field trips are the classroom without walls – where learning comes alive.”
On 4th August 2025, students of CIE Grades 6 to 8 embarked on an enriching educational field trip to the Aavin Milk Factory in Ambattur, Chennai. The primary goal of the visit was to help students gain real-world insight into the milk production process—from collection and processing to packaging and distribution. Upon arrival, the students received a warm welcome from the factory staff. The visit began with an informative orientation session that introduced Aavin’s role in the dairy industry and its extensive operations across Tamil Nadu.
The guided factory tour led students through the various stages of milk processing, including chilling, pasteurization, homogenization, and packaging. They were fascinated by the sophisticated automated machinery. Students also learned about the diverse range of dairy products produced at Aavin—such as toned milk, curd, ghee, butter, and flavored milk.A key highlight of the visit was the live demonstration of the packaging line, where students observed how milk is efficiently filled, sealed, and labeled. They also experienced the cold storage room, where milk is rapidly frozen post-packaging—a moment that both amazed and delighted them.
To make the experience even more special, students were treated to complimentary ice cream and biscuits, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Another exciting moment was when they got the opportunity to shop at the Aavin Parlour, where they eagerly purchased a variety of Aavin products. The trip proved to be an informative and enjoyable experience. It deepened students’ understanding of food technology, industrial processes, and the importance of maintaining quality and hygiene in food production. Most importantly, it gave them a newfound appreciation for the journey milk takes before reaching their homes.
