A comprehensive Parents’ Familiarisation session was held for the parents of IBDP Year 2 and IGCSE Year 2 students, led by Ms. Sreedevi Varakavi, Head of School and IBDP Coordinator, and Mr. B. Sathyamoorthy, IGCSE Coordinator and Exams Officer. The session aimed to equip parents with essential information regarding the academic expectations, assessment patterns, and support strategies for their children’s final year in both programmes.

Ms. Sreedevi provided an insightful overview of the IB Diploma Programme’s core components, including Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). She elaborated on internal and external assessments, predicted grades, and university application procedures. Emphasis was placed on the importance of academic integrity, time management, and emotional well-being during this critical phase.

Mr. B. Sathyamoorthy highlighted the structure of the IGCSE Year 2 curriculum, covering subject-specific assessments, mock examinations, and the significance of regular revision. He also discussed the process of subject selection for future academic pathways and strategies for success in board exams.

Both sessions focused on encouraging strong parent-student-school collaboration. Parents were urged to provide consistent motivation, maintain open communication with teachers, and create a supportive environment at home. The session concluded with a Q&A session, where parents actively engaged with the coordinators to clarify their concerns.

Overall, the session was well-received, offering clarity, reassurance, and direction. It strengthened the bridge between home and school, ensuring that both IGCSE and IBDP students are well-supported on their academic journey.
