Exploring the World of Matter: Science Activity by CIE6 students @CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai

Written by cpsglobalblog

At CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai, our learners of CIE 6 recently participated in an engaging science activity designed to help them distinguish between elements, compounds, mixtures, pure elements, pure compounds, and solids. The hands-on session allowed students to explore fundamental concepts of matter creatively and interactively.

The activity used all-natural materials for the representations. Students crafted models on leaves, cardboards, and coconut shells, using clay, chalk, and flower pigments for colours, and cooked rice as glue. These sustainable materials made the learning process both eco-friendly and visually stimulating, turning science into an artistic experience.

Working in groups, students classified various substances, observing their physical properties and distinguishing between pure elements, pure compounds, and mixtures. The activity encouraged discussion, collaboration, and critical thinking, allowing learners to connect abstract scientific concepts to tangible, real-world examples.

Through this immersive experience, students strengthened both their theoretical understanding and practical skills, developing observation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. By combining science with creativity, CPS Global School fosters curiosity, environmental awareness, and a hands-on approach to learning that makes scientific exploration exciting and meaningful.
