“Every sunrise is proof of Earth’s steady rotation.”
CIE 3 students explored the fascinating concept of day and night through an exciting hands-on activity. Using a globe and a torchlight, they simulated how the Earth rotates on its axis.
In a dark room, the torchlight acted as the Sun, while the globe represented Earth. As the students rotated the globe counter-clockwise, they observed how one side lit up (day) while the other stayed dark (night). They even marked specific locations with sticky notes to see how places moved in and out of the light.
This simple yet engaging activity helped students grasp how the Earth’s rotation causes day and night, making learning both fun and memorable!
