Celebrating World Ocean Day – Our Young Ocean Heroes! @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Today, our classroom buzzed with excitement as we came together for a special assembly to celebrate World Ocean Day. Our Grade 2 learners proudly took centre stage, sharing simple yet powerful facts about the oceans—how they cover more than 70% of the Earth, provide us with half the oxygen we breathe, and are home to millions of sea creatures like turtles, fish, and whales.

A highlight of the morning was the O-C-E-A-N placard display, where each letter stood for a meaningful message. Our students delivered each line with confidence, spreading awareness in a creative and engaging way.

The learners also shed light on an important issue—plastic pollution—and its harmful effects on marine life. Through visuals and a brief talk, they helped their peers understand why it is essential to keep our oceans clean.

Adding to the energy of the day, the students performed an enthusiastic action song, “Clean, clean, clean the sea…”, which filled the space with joy and purpose.

Participation in this assembly not only deepened their understanding of ocean conservation but also helped our learners develop the Cambridge learner attributes, particularly that of becoming confident, responsible, and reflective individuals who are aware of their role in making a difference.

We are so proud of our young Ocean Heroes!
