IGCSE 1 and IBDP 1 students of CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai, went on an industrial visit to SALCOMP Industries in Sriperumbudur, gaining valuable insights into the intricate process of manufacturing cell phone chargers. The visit began with an address by the General Manager, followed by an informative seminar on safety procedures conducted by the Safety Officer. Their insights provided a fresh perspective on the workings of the manufacturing industry.
SALCOMP supplies phone chargers to leading global mobile brands such as Xiaomi, Vivo, and OnePlus. A remarkable observation during the visit was that 90% of the workforce comprised women. Witnessing them efficiently manage various stages of production—from assembling components to conducting quality checks—was a testament to their crucial role in driving the industry forward.
Walking through the production units, students were particularly fascinated by the level of automation involved in assembling the components. Each machine in the assembly line played a critical role, from soldering circuit boards to final packaging, ensuring that every product met stringent quality standards.
Overall, the visit to SALCOMP Industries was an eye-opening experience that deepened the students’ appreciation for the meticulous craftsmanship behind electronic devices.
