Behind Every transmission – A Layer-by-Layer Discovery @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

As part of their learning, students of A level engaged in a practical demonstration of how the TCP/IP layers work together. Each student represented one layer, and a short message was passed from one “layer” to the next. As the message moved, each student performed the role of their assigned layer—adding, modifying, or preparing the data before handing it over.

By physically enacting the flow of data, students were able to clearly visualize how the TCP/IP layers work together in sequence. Concepts that often feel theoretical—encapsulation, transmission, and layered responsibilities—became easier to grasp. The exercise strengthened conceptual understanding and provided a concrete learning experience that supported long-term retention.
