A Creative Journey with Time – Grade 3 Learners Explore Daily Routines

Written by cpsglobalblog

As part of their Mathematics learning, our Grade 3 children engaged in a hands-on activity exploring the concept of time. Each child drew six daily routines from their own lives—including waking up, having breakfast, going to school, playing, studying, and going to bed—and recorded the time for each activity in both 12-hour and 24-hour formats. This exercise not only strengthened their ability to read and convert time but also encouraged them to reflect on how they spend their day, showing that “time isn’t just numbers on a clock; it is the rhythm of our daily life.” The young learners displayed creativity through colourful illustrations and confidence in presenting their work to peers, while also developing essential life skills such as organisation, sequencing, and self-expression. As William Penn once said, “Time is what we want most, but what we use worst,” and through this activity, our learners are beginning to value and manage their time wisely—a skill that will serve them for life. At our school, learning is not just about numbers—it’s about understanding and valuing the rhythm of life itself!
