Madras Day Celebration – Lower Secondary Students @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

This Madras Day, our learners turned history into theatre, transforming corridors into a living chronicle of Chennai’s story — from 1639 to today. The journey began under a spotlight: a skit on the land grant of 1639, where Madras first took breath. From there, the air crackled with voices of merchants as a marketplace sprung to life, echoing the days of booming trade. But history is not only commerce—it is courage. The pulse of freedom beat loud in a gummidance, where rhythm became rebellion, and steps became slogans.  Then silence fell.

A mime of the partition of Andhra and Chennai left the audience frozen, as unspoken emotions spoke louder than words. The light shifted once again: a role play of reforms, dramatizing change and progress; The pride of Chennai’s soul was illuminated through heritage sites, silk sarees, and Chennapatnam toys, each symbol of culture held high in the glow. And finally, a leap into the present. A powerful presentation of Chennai’s infrastructure—then and now—reminded us that the city still grows, still fights, still dreams. Step by step, spotlight by spotlight, our learners carried the audience across time. Madras is not just remembered. It is relived. And this day, in our school, it was reborn.
