Learning by Doing: Exploring Moments and Fluid Density in the Physics Lab @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Physics comes alive not just through formulas and theories on a board, but in the clinking of weights, the balancing of beams, and the bubbling of beakers in the lab. Recently, students of AS Level rolled up their sleeves and dived into a series of hands-on experiments aimed at understanding two fundamental physics concepts: moments and the density of fluids.

Textbook knowledge is vital, but it’s in the lab that students often feel the science. These experiments gave them more than just numerical results—they offered insights, sparked curiosity, and built confidence in handling scientific equipment and observations.

These sessions were more than just academic exercises—they were designed to:

  • Reinforce classroom learning through direct experience.
  • Encourage curiosity, questioning, and scientific thinking.
  • Develop confidence in using scientific tools and making observations.
  • Show students how physics applies to the real world

“When students see the laws of physics unfold with their own hands, the subject becomes more than just equations—it becomes a language they understand.”
