Mahatma Gandhi said,“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourselves in the service of
others.” And truly no one has ever become poor by giving.
The students of IBDP Year 1 initiated a CAS project ‘Joy of Giving’ in their attempt to stand
by the senior citizens residing at Akshaya Trust Home – a home for elderly people. This
endeavour was spearheaded by CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai for the second consecutive
year. The aim was to buy essentials and groceries for one month with the contribution of
Rs.100/- from all the members of CPS Globall School family right from students to teaching
and non-teaching staff. To kickstart the project, the students of IBDP Year 1 , through a
presentation during school assembly, tried to raise awareness about this project, accompanied
by an email with the payment details and the modes of payment to every student and teacher.
The contributions made up for a sum of Rs 16400/-which was then utilised for the month-
long provisions.
Much like the attitude of gratitude, the joy of giving leads to a happier, healthier life and the
students pledged to take up such projects in the future and also to educate the younger
generation about the joy that comes from giving.
