THE WORLD IS A STAGE

Written by cpsglobalblog
We must all do theatre to find out who we are and to discover who we could become.
-Augusto Boal.
March 27th is World Theatre Day. It was initiated in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute ITI. Ever since, each year on the 27th March, World Theatre Day has been celebrated by theatre professionals, theatre lovers, theatre universities, academies and schools across the globe. This year has been challenging in almost all aspects. In the process of learning our students had to do a lot of unlearning by breaking the shackles of their well accustomed, regular lives. They learnt to contemplate and work outside their comfort zone. Our Theatre classes gave our students the opportunity to explore their creative sides from the confines of their homes during this pandemic. It is incredible how the students worked with their theatre teachers and learnt the finer aspects of theatre. They learnt dialogue delivery, voice modulation, the effect of costume and background through various theatre activities like script reading, acting out a scene and enacting an imaginary situation. Mr Karthik the creative head of Creashakthi was the Guest of Honour for our virtual celebration of World Theatre Day. He has been in the field of theatre, film and music for the past 10 years.Mr Karthik is a chemical engineer but completely devoted himself to the world of theatre.CPS Global School Thirumazhisai in association with our Theatre Partners Creashakthi had a blockbuster premiere of three wonderful plays-Hercules by CAIE 1 to 3, Legend of Theseus by CAIE 4 and 5 and Kingdom of God by CAIE 6 TO 8 students. These are stories of perseverance, bravery and hope. These important virtues were conveyed through valiant characters who braved nature’s fury, enemies, demons and mythical creatures and emerged victorious. How did the children accomplish this incredible fete? Practise and perseverance. The students were involved in extensive training sessions where they rehearsed their parts under the guidance of their theatre teachers. They were given clear instructions as to how the videos had to be taken, their expressions and body language and costume and how to upload their videos in an organized way. The result was a mind-blowing compilation which took CPS Global Thirumazhisai Theatre group to a new dimension. It was a treat to watch our learners perform impeccably. Our students proved yet again that the creative urge of artists can never be stifled and will only flourish in the future. Hail Theatre!
