The Rotary Club of Madras East Trust Fundraising Campaign to Support Pediatric Heart Surgeries

A report by WHO claims that 2 out of every 100 children are diagnosed with Congenital
Heart Disease (CHD) and 78,000 infants lose their lives every year due to CHD.
Although most of us take access to medication for granted, it is still a far-fetched dream
for the under privileged and the gap between the haves and have-nots is growing with
reference to access to health care. To instill a spirit of generosity and charity, CPS
Global School, Thirumazhisai initiated us, IBDP year 1 students to conduct a fundraising
campaign to support pediatric heart surgeries by aligning with the Rotart Club of Madras
East Trust as part of the Creativity, activity, service (CAS) project. But we realized that
we were unable to do a formidable fund-raiser by ourselves, thanks to the crowd funding
platform, FUELADREAM whose timely association with us helped us get through the
challenges with ease by enabling our campaign story available to a large set of funders.

The moment of pride filled our hearts as we came to terms that our humble effort of
charity is on its way to transform the life of a toddler. I and a few of my fellow
classmates had the fortuity of being able to help these infants. Needless to say, all of us
had an amazing experience by contributing positively to the society and the school
management took immense pride by inculcating the spirit of empathy and compassion
in the students standing akin to the famous verse that states “We make a Living by what
we get, but we make a Life by what we give.” Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who
made this initiative possible and a big thanks to our CAS Coordinator, Ms. Swarnalatha
for constantly supporting and encouraging all of us to put our best foot forward.
