Pongalo Pongal !

Written by cpsglobalblog

Pongal is yet another occasion for CPSGS family to mark the joy and cheer of festivals. It is believed that this harvest season brings along with it all that’s best for the people. The celebration started off with the school prayer, thought and followed by Tamil Thaai Vazhthu. Our students of CAIE 3 and 4 joyously recollected the Pongal celebrations at CPSGS campus last year, while learning about how it is celebrated in Singapore from their fellow classmate who stays there.  Children will remember and learn from what they do, so our ELP and primary students with their performances got to know about the cultural importance of the harvest festival being celebrated in different parts of India,  such as Thai Thirunal in Tamil Nadu, Lohri in Punjab, Makar Sankranti in Western India, Bihu in Assam and Uttarayan in Gujarat. During the  harvest farmers sing folk songs and dance  to wade of their tiredness. This was beautifully presented by our students which was really captivating.

Our special assemblies are incomplete without a quiz conducted by our young Quiz masters. Every student actively participated.  The show stopper of the event was Kailash and his team from IB Yr1. His show ‘Kashayam with Kailash’ was not only hilarious but thought provoking too. It was about the farmers who dedicate their lives for our well being.

Last but not the least, the Pongal release of CPSGS Production, ‘How Ganesha got his head?’ was proudly presented by the students of middle school. This skit was curated by Creasakthi and the entire production was done virtually! This version gave us a  humorous and modern perspective for the story.Just like every other occasion our Head of School gave her beautiful note on how creative and enjoyable the whole event was. The celebration concluded with the expression of gratitude to each and everyone who made this celebration a grand success!
