c..a..t…. cat !! b..a..g…..bag !! Let’s blend and read.
Blending is the skill of joining individual speech sounds (phonemes) together to make a word. Blending is super important as it involves the importance of phonemic awareness, and how these sounds come together to make words and also proves how easy and simple reading can be!
Our ELP 3A young learners enjoyed identifying and blending sounds by playing the “Pick-A-Blend” game. Children were divided in groups based on the various ‘a’ blend sounds, and were asked to identify objects that ends with those sounds (mat, cap, bag).
So this team work also helped in easing out any initial starting anxieties. Some zapped us with their ability to correlate and brought out a whole lot of rhyming ‘a’ words!
