My idea of good company is the company of clever, well-informed people who have a great deal of conversation; that is what I call good company. – taken from Persuasion by Jane Austen
Yes, indeed CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai was in the good company of clever, well informed students right from CAIE 1 to IBDP Year 2 as the annual week-long English fest NOVA VETA 2020 commenced on December 16th, commemorating the 245th birth anniversary of novelist, Jane Austen. This literary week was systematized to embolden students’ understanding and adoration for literature. In order to quench the thirst of literature and the language, a plethora of interesting activities with a holistic approach were organized by the English Team.
To ignite and fuel our young minds, the Primary wing came up with an array of attention-grabbing and thought-provoking activities. This year, just as life has been reinventing itself, the virtual fest also was one with a difference. Various interdisciplinary activities were projected through the ultimate form of expression- the literary expression. Talk for Thought – a contemplative talk created an awareness on water and sea animals’ conservation amongst the young minds. It brought out the artistic language skills from the rising stars of CAIE 1. A balanced diet and regular exercise help children to grow healthy is no new advice! This experiential learning was enunciated with puppets by our CAIE 2 genii. This activity was one of stretching the imagination and entreating creative faculties. News-casting by our young dynamic professionals of CAIE 3 unveiled the hidden talents of them. The whiz kids of CAIE 4 portrayed their characterisation of the famous fairy tale ‘Three Bears and Goldilocks’ in a well-groomed manner. They, thoroughly enjoyed themselves as they imbibed as the characters themselves as did the audience. The quintessential War of Words – A debate on “Legalising Rhino horn trade” by CAIE 5 young talents lit the virtual debating platform on fire.
Lower Secondary wing’s brain boggling activities added flavour to the event. Talk Masters of CAIE 6 proved themselves to be masters even in unscripted speech activity. They should be applauded for their fluency, erudition and articulation. Mindopoedia – a literary quiz brought out the intellectual spirit among the CAIE 7 and 8 students. This knowledge enriching activity witnessed the abundant talents in the eyes of the students.
The IGCSE and IBDP students engaged themselves to poetically articulate their aspirations and vision for 2021. Their fears and optimism found words, right from their heart, in the small pastiche that will be curated as a youth anthem for 2021 by CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai.
The week turned out to be an exceptionally engaging experience mixing learning with fun for the children. No celebration would be a grand success without the active participation of our students. So was our Nova Veta 2020! Honing the listening, verbal, decision making, creativity and abstract thinking of our students.
