From “I Wonder” to “I Discovered!”-The Curious Case of Walking Water @ CPSGS Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

What We Knew:
Water is a liquid that flows and can be poured.

What We Wanted to Know:
Can water travel from one cup to another using only a piece of string?

What We Learnt:
We observed the coloured water slowly travel along the string from one cup to another. We discovered that this happens because of cohesion (water sticks to water) and adhesion (water sticks to the string).

Making the Connection:
Just like water travels along a string, it moves through tiny tubes inside plants, carrying it from the roots to the leaves and flowers to help them grow.
